New mix, mainly inna rub-a-dub stylee, early to mid 80s vibes, all from their vinyl sources! This time I picked some of my 12" singles to create a new mix with vocals combined with deejay and / or dub versions. As usual the tracks are custom-mixed and also if the 12" is already an extended tune, I've shortened it to a few minutes, as usual: no full tunes at BMC's Reggae Mixes. Labels of records are given with the side of the 12" I took the tune of. Not many of these (if any) are currently commercially available, so it's record fairs, ebay and more of such places to look for these. Personally I love every one of these records, hopefully you too. Enjoy!

New mix up of modern tunes. We're in may of 2008 already and I didn't make a mix containing JA tunes released this year yet, so it was time to change that. Here it is, 30 tracks, some from this year, some from last year, all from 7" except the Mary Jane riddim, which is taken from 10" singles. Usual things apply; no full tunes, shorter pieces mixed together at lower bitrate with added soundsamples. If you rate the tunes I'd encourage you to go out and get the tunes yourself to hear 'm in full, good quality and sample-free. A promotional thing this!
We have a nice mix of JA and European releases here with a variety of names, both veterans and newer vocalists. Two wicked Doniki's, a very underrated singer imo, old-school digital style riddims from Scotch Bonnet and Charlie's labels, Massive B's massive Kingdom riddim, big hits on the Rub A Dub riddim, wicked roots riddim called Dem A Run Away etc etc. Lots of niceness, roots stylee. Enjoy!

Comments will be appreciated. Donations too ofcourse. winking

I don't care about the number of download, I do care about the nice comments of the people that enjoy the music with me. Special shout-out this time to the Reggae Sundance Guestbook and its contributors for the support and interesting conversations.

BMC alongside SPRINGLINE JAMAICA

To celebrate the one year anniversary of Springline Jamaica online radio, label, forum and more, a large celebration was held on friday april 25th with a marathon-broadcast at their station ( http://www.live365.com/stations/sirgibbs ) with contributions from a whole heap of people, among which a mix of myself. Here is said mix up for listen for one and all, including the Springline jingles alongside my own. Mix is focused on modern reggae with a UK roots sound. Not all from the UK, but I just use that description to give a general idea of what to expect. Contains contributions from big names from the scene like Jah Warrior, Russ D (Disciples), Twilight Circus, Dougie Conscious, Barry Issac, Manila Jeepney crew, King Shiloh + Dub Creator and more. Producers and engineers that still make wicked dubs for the flipsides of the records and make sure the bass is in full affect in their productions. Those I've been in contact with are very nice people too who deserve all support. The sounds in the mix, as usual, are shorter pieces of the tunes mixed together to a 45 minutes showcase of modern roots and dub. Most, if not all, of the music in this mix is still available for sale, so if you like what you hear and want to hear the full tunes in good quality, I'd say go get 'm! A good source for finding (amongst others) UK styled music is http://www.reggaemusicstore.com , from the man Jah Warrior himself. Enjoy!

Tracks in order of appearance:

(all versions present are custom-mixed together with the vocals to give nicely extended tunes):

New DOUBLE episode of BMC's Reggae Mixes with a mix based on the music of my favourite reggae singer: DELROY WILSON!

I've made quite a few mixes by now, but my favourite singer was still waiting to be the focus of a mix and here it is. Often overlooked, Delroy Wilson doesn't always get the credits he deserves. Double episode, could have easily been a triple or more, so many good tunes by this man! Mix lasts a little under 80 minutes and contains many of my favourite Delroy tracks and some version and deejay cuts. Tunes are from a variety of labels, studios, producers and musicians and cover quite a big part of his career, though mostly focus on the period late 60s - late 70s. His ska recordings for Studio 1 are left out. It's interesting to hear the change in his voice over the years, here tried to show with 4 versions of Delroy's Dancing Mood going in steps through his career. Personally I've always rated his later period with his voice more matured a bit higher than his early years, but both periods are extensively covered here. Sadly Delroy Wilson died in 1995 at the way too young age of 46 years old, but left behind a catalogue to be enjoyed forever. What a singer. For all tracks sources are given so if you rate the music, you can track down copies yourself to get the full tunes (as always, here only short pieces are used in one continuous mix, no full tunes) in good quality without samples. Support the music!
Check it out and if you appreciate the effort, be so kind to let me know via a comment, email or donation to keep the show running (see paypal button on the right side of the screen). Thanks and enjoy!

Again I say, please leave a comment if you've enjoyed the mix, it's a lot of work, fun to do, but if people only listen / download without simply showing some appreciation for the work, it's not worth it to put all the effort in it. Big up to all people that commented on previous mixes, your appreciation and the mutual love for and conversations about the music is what it's all about.

BMC

Final mix of 2007 modern roots 45s. 40 minute mix of consciousness and lovers, the way I like it! Again some wicked European productions in here like the superb rocksteady styled Family riddim on A-Lone (same guys from the excellent Dirty Dozen riddim as part of my previous 2007 mix 'More Life'). Also the latest riddim from the Irie Ites camp that never fail to impress, this time with an update of Culture's Down In Jamaica (with involvement of Mafia & Fluxy again) and the Maximum Sound camp with two wicked riddims Black Board, of Lee Perry fame, and Ashanti Warrior. Ofcourse also plenty of room for JA productions with riddims like Guardian Angel, Gunman, Legal (with VC, remember him?) and more. Nuff big tunes here. I also had to include She's Royal in this mix, since I didn't do so yet and it's a big tune of last year. As always, no full tunes, shorter pieces mixed together with added sound-samples and at low, though very listenable quality. This will give a good impression of the tunes, a promotional thing. I keep on repeating this, but hey, it's the way I feel, so again, if you like what you hear I encourage you to buy the tunes yourself to get 'm in full, good quality and sample-free and to support the industry. Information on label and riddim of the 45s is given in brackets (label - riddim).
